Kim Berger

Kim has been interpreting in the post-secondary arena in both undergraduate & graduate professional programs since 1995.  She holds national certification & has been a member of the interpreter team at DSS since 2003.  She has been involved in SIU’s Video Remote Interpreting project since its inception and is a C-Print trained captionist. 

During her graduate studies at SIU, Kim studied Applied Linguistics and worked as a teaching assistant in the Center for English as a Second Language, taught ASL for the Foreign Language Department & focused her research on linguistic issues in US deaf education.  From there, Kim was invited to give back to her interpreting alma mater by teaching ASL & ASL Linguistics at nearby John A. Logan College’s Interpreter Preparation Program.  Currently, Kim enjoys planning Deaf Awareness events & likes the challenges of multi-disciplinary college interpreting!
